Eyal Assaf is a Technical Artist currently living and working in Toronto, Canada. A graduate from the Ontario College of Art and Design, Eyal has been involved in the animation, gaming and broadcast industries since the mid-90’s when digital dinosaurs began to roam the big screens. His wide range of experience led him to positions such as Visual Effects Supervisor on an award winning animated 3D television show, as well as other lead positions in a variety of commercials, broadcast, film and game projects. Very boring. Author is very boring and can't explain anything.First more than a half of the book about cogs and menus, whole plane scripts, with little or no explanation at all. Just copy it or type manually (like an idiot) those dozens of pages of useless scripts.Second boring part about rigging mechanical bird and mechanical girl - hard to read and also useless.Last small part - some scripts again.Author has writen only what he was doing without any explanation. Why do that? - Just do like I do.If you want to get into coding - get the book about coding.If you want to get into rigging - get the book about rigging.This book doesn't cover anything of this.This book saddens me. What a waste of nerves, time and money.

Not very useful
I have physically held this book and the quality is very thick but thin pages. Textbook but glossy and although some would say too fragile I find it sexy but also reading in the dark was tad tedious since the pages reflected off my phone and the font was small but it was in bold so! Huzzah for a final save.I can actually undrerstand the rage inducing content it may give;So first pages it tells you what this book is for (pro) . The game dev and film department production pipeline and not a computer programming book.This goes into detail in the beginming and I thought it was great.Then I hit a void.First chapter tells the creative cycle. Yes literally what pre production is from production to post but in a map sense.The reason this was exhaustion because the title is Rigging for games but its explaining everyones pipeline and storyboard I never asked for. I was so bizzared out on how this could help rigging. Its hook and title is python this and a game dev production that and then it starts and im reading a different book on how the production of a creative content starts and its like a slice for beginners but beginners would definitely not be hitting python? That youve talked about from the start?I thought it was a good idea in the human empathy sense of being aware of the pipeline work but still, its like just so odd and out of place.The information given is correct and gives resources of programs and what the gist they are for but also realize what im telling you, that there is a whole fist chapter of what your not looking for 🙃It starts to feel like until the middle of chapter 2 it is easing in the realities of rigging. (Im just so confused why its so beginner friendly. Like this is REALLY eye opening and should have been its own book because this is the pipeline and its descriptions of work and flow and just wtf)Chapter 3 dives into rigging (Huzzah! After 50 pages.)(Naming conventions and the nerdy upkeep us riggers take to have good workflow is explained so thats important and good but there was probably more pages explaining storyboards than the order of things. Its a good thing I find lists attractive...)Rigging is finally introduce along with python concepts but introductions and descriptions. (The chapter is called concepts but but ahould give itself a tad more credit as it has instructions. )The chapters get thicker with python scripts and Id hope to see a part two book for face and 2019 maya and even introducing technical rigs of Skin and Muscle and the Ngen maya has that helps riggers on their body making but I can understand how that could be a physics and modeling department but if you had the space for luring in beginners and diving headfirst in python scripts you definetly could need a book on Riggings branch of moving the body on and with other tools of the production.What I overall disliked most it wasted my time upfront after saying "beware fellow python explore!" The warning of this adventure was for the wrong path. A good path but the wrong one. (Stop showing me storyboards! I dont get the link of storyboards and rigging to this book but thanks question mark question mark.)What I like most is that if this title was re imagined and the book really could help beginner riggers study general rig concepts. I thought it would get vague and frustrating but its plain and simple and if you dont get it while reading you may not get it now and have to go somewhere else but Its the definition of refreshing.
