The book was pretty good, the last chapters deal with plants and that is always helpful. My biggest issue is that it was a little too basic and did not present the unique problems faced with desert survival. As I live next to a barren wasteland that is the Great Basin, I would have liked to see this explored more.The author presents ways on getting water (very interesting BTW) in areas that he is accustomed to, but none of the ways he presents are that viable in a desert. Same with shelter.Now if this book was not titled "how to survive anything, anywhere", I'd have only marked him down one star, as it is, he gets two strikes.I would recommend but only along with some other titles as well.

Great informative reading ....... really , really , useful information ..... every novice should buy this book as well as "the log cabin" and "practical outdoor survival" ( I even enjoyed Len's books.....and yes I learned a few things....I suspect most people will)

Don't be fooled by the stupid looking cover...that is a mistake in my opinion. The wealth of information for anyone that has no idea what to do in a emergency situation to save you or others lives. Buy and put in your emergency things bag. Michigan

Love this book. Len McDougall is the real deal and has lived this life for decades. He's a bit unorthodox from modern "blog thinking" and that's exactly why a prepper needs this perspective in his/her library.
